Bernice Myrtle Vannorsdel, 91, of Kingsley entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. A Celebration of her life will take place at 11am on Monday, April 30 at The United Methodist Church of Kingsley with Rev. Roger Kurtenbach officiating. Burial will follow at the Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will start one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa. She moved to Kingsley in 1927 where she attended rural school and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1938. She then worked at the Floyd Phelps Law Firm for three years before her marriage to Donald Vannorsdel on December 10, 1942. They had one child, Donna, born in 1944. Bernice's work ethic was second to none and farming was her passion. She and Don worked as a team in their farming and livestock business. They took a great amount of pride working on their farm and living in the Kingsley community. She enjoyed being outdoors manicuring her lawn and tending to her beautiful gardens. She also loved spending time with family and friends and especially her great-grandchildren.Although it is hard to say goodbye, we are happy that she is now peaceful in heaven with the many loved ones she has said goodbye to over the years.Left to cherish memories of Bernice are her three grandchildren, Amy Snook and husband Steve, of Maple Grove, MN, Scott Skavanger, of Robbinsdale, MN, Julie Fraunhoffer and husband, Ken, of Princeton, NJ; two great grandchildren, Sarah and Andrew Snook; son-in-law Lee Skavanger of Maple Grove, MN; sister-in-law Mable Bogenrief of Beatrice, NE; and many nieces and nephews.Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Murl and Myrtle (Lorenzen) Bogenrief; husband, Donald Vannorsdel; daughter, Donna Skavanger; two brothers, Delbert Bogenrief and Burdette Bogenrief; sister-in-laws, Evelyn Bogenrief and Sheryl Bogenrief.
