Karen J. Bainbridge, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Kingsley Funeral Home & Monument/Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa with Pastor Ken Kraft officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with family present during this time.
Karen was born on October 19,1942 in Neenah, WI, the daughter of the late Carl and Dorothy Fokken. She was raised and educated in Kingsley, IA and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1961. On December 23, 1961, she married her high school sweet heart, David Bainbridge, at the Brethren Church in Kingsley. They ran a local business together for several years. David passed away October 26, 2016.
Karen loved going to their place at Okoboji, spending time on the boat and fishing. She enjoyed taking walks, reading and was an excellent cook. She was a ‘leaf watcher’ and took many trips north to watch the leaves change color in the fall. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Red Hat Society and P.E.O.
Karen leaves a son, Darryl Bainbridge of Kingsley, a daughter and son-in-law, Darla (Jeff) Weiler of Remsen, two granddaughters, Cassie and Tessa, one sister, Carla Chilton and her husband Michael of Sioux City, IA, a sister-in-law, Joyce (Bainbridge) Conry of Orange City and several nieces and nephews.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, husband David, sister Susan DeJong, and brothers-in-law Terry DeJong and Don Conry.
