Steven Petersen

Steven Lind Petersen, 69, of Pierson, Iowa, passed away April 6, 2025 at home.

A Celebration of Life will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2025 at Kingsley Funeral Home & Monument in Kingsley, IA with Pastor Ken Kraft of New Life Baptist Church of Kingsley, officiating a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Pierson, Iowa, Saturday April 12, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Services have been entrusted to Kingsley Funeral Home & Monument in Kingsley, IA www.kingsleyfh.com

Steven was born on May 19, 1955 to Orville and Phyllis (Pruehs) Petersen in Cherokee, IA. He was raised in Pierson, IA, receiving his education from Kingsley-Pierson graduating in 1973. After high school Steve lived in Elk Point S.D. and worked at Load King as a welder and autocad draftsman.

Steve married Susan Knecht on June, 2, 1984 at their home near Pierson. Around this time he began working for the Sioux City Foundry where he spent 37 years as a draftsman and welder supervisor, retiring in 2021.

Steve was known for his incredible sense of humor, quick witty comebacks, and smart remarks. His playful teasing will especially be missed by his grandkids. Steve had a great taste in music and loved spending time outdoors, whether it was camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle or golfing in his younger days. He was an avid sports fan, especially of NASCAR, and enjoyed traveling on beach vacations with his wife.

His laughter and love for life will be missed by all who knew him. Especially his wife of 40 years, Susan of Pierson, IA; Jeff (Nycole) Petersen of Moore, OK, Stephanie (Robert) Goeden, of Pierson , IA, Kevin (Charity) Miller of Pierson, IA; 8 grand children, Clayton, Cayden, Alexandria, Abigail, William, Alexis, Auburn Cierra, CJ; 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vicki (Mike) Stover, of Ida Grove IA, and Val (Randy) Petersen, of Kingsley, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents Orville and Phyllis Petersen.
